Swimlane announces new orchestrator application for the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework

Application ensures new security capabilities are added quickly and efficiently

DENVER, Colo. - (May 22, 2018, GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Swimlane, a leader in security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR), has unveiled its orchestrator application (app) for the Palo Alto Networks®(NYSE: PANW) Application Framework. Swimlane’s Application Framework Orchestrator app automates the collection of relevant event detail from the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework, delivering critical security event context to SecOps administrators throughout the incident response process.

Consuming cybersecurity innovations has become an arduous process. Organizations waste time deploying new sensors every time they want to collect a new piece of data and managing point products rather than improving security controls to stay ahead of attackers. The Palo Alto Networks Application Framework makes it easy to add new security capabilities quickly and efficiently. The framework extends the capabilities of the Palo Alto Networks Security Operating Platform, with a suite of APIs that developers can use to connect innovative apps with rich data, threat intelligence and enforcement points. Organizations gain immediate security value from apps developed by an open ecosystem of trusted innovators.

“Swimlane is committed to helping overburdened security operations teams respond to more alerts faster, and with greater accuracy, by collaborating with Palo Alto Networks. As part of the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework, our customers will have more options for maximizing existing resources and accelerating the incident response process,” said Cody Cornell, co-founder and CEO of Swimlane.

Swimlane’s Application Framework Orchestrator app automates the collection of security event data from the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework and uses it to initiate automated incident response playbooks and to enrich dynamic case management records. This empowers security operations (SecOps) teams to review more alarms with lower response times without adding overhead. By automating time-intensive, manual processes and operational workflows, as well as delivering powerful, consolidated analytics, real-time dashboards and reporting from across the security infrastructure, Swimlane maximizes the incident response capabilities of over-burdened and understaffed SecOps teams.

“We are delighted to welcome Swimlane to the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework developer community. The framework provides our customers with superior security through cloud-based apps developed by innovative security providers, large and small. Together, we are fueling innovation in the cybersecurity market with apps that are built rapidly, engineered on a common framework, and deliver unique value while solving our customers’ toughest security challenges,” said Lee Klarich, chief product officer of Palo Alto Networks.

  • Swimlane’s Application Framework Orchestrator app will be available at no charge to all existing Swimlane customers in tandem with the availability of the Palo Alto Networks Application Framework.
  • The Palo Alto Networks Application Framework is targeted for availability in August 2018 and will be available worldwide to customers who have purchased either Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls or Traps advanced endpoint protection and the Logging Service subscription.
