Welcome to the “Life in the Swimlane” blog series. Here we will feature interviews with Swimlaners to learn more about their experience. This series will give you a preview of Swimlane, our culture, and the people who keep us going.
My name is Sylina Barwick, I recently moved from Tampa, Florida to Denver, Colorado with my two pups, Champ and Doak. I grew up along the panhandle in Florida and spent the last 10 years soaking up the sun on the most beautiful beaches in the Tampa Bay area. After 20+ years in the sunshine state I figured it was time to see what it was like to live somewhere above sea level that experienced seasons. So far, Colorado has not disappointed and is beyond beautiful!
What does your job entail?
I’ve been with Swimlane for almost a year and a half. Being a CSM (Customer Success Manager) consists of getting to hear how our customers are using Swimlane. The most important part of being a CSM is building relationships to uncover ways to expand SOAR initiatives with the goal of creating more efficiency and saving time for analysts/engineers/leadership. I’m also lucky because in order to achieve customer satisfaction and initiatives I get to collaborate with all departments in Swimlane.
What do you enjoy most about working at Swimlane?
I enjoy working with very intelligent and outside of the box thinking individuals. Being a ‘start-up’ environment, no idea is too small and everyone is willing to help or teach when the opportunity presents itself.
What excites you most about your work?
Building relationships is something that I’ve always been passionate about and at Swimlane I get to do that daily with my customers and colleagues.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
When I’m not working I’m either at home relaxing with my dogs or being active in nature. I also enjoy all kinds of music so I regularly explore the different music venues Denver has to offer.
Are there any clubs, volunteer/awareness groups, or social movements you’re passionate about?
I’m very passionate about human rights, specifically women’s, LGBTQ+ and POC. In addition, I have been an active contributor to a foundation in Florida that’s very near and dear to my heart called The Children’s Dream Foundation. They make dreams come true for terminally ill children in Florida and it’s been such a rewarding foundation to be a part of and watch grow over the years.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I went to an arts school and participated in Theatre for all 4 years of high school along with chorus and dance.
Your motto or personal mantra:
Things don’t happen to you, they happen for you.
Three words that best describe you:
Motivated, Free Spirited, Ambitious.
What Swimlane core value resonates with you the most?
Honesty and Integrity in all the things.
What type of impact do you want to leave on our industry?
Personally, I want everyone I interact with to know that I put my best foot forward, that I listen to their needs and am always growing.
I want Swimlane to be the ‘Best in Class” but not just for our product (which is amazing), but for the individuals who make Swimlane the company and the product. A good culture and a great set of values that have created a product which immensely improves processes and saves everyone the most precious resource, time.
