2 Minute Read

Welcome to the “Life in the Swimlane” blog series. Here we will feature interviews with Swimlaners to learn more about their experience. This series will give you a preview of Swimlane, our culture, and the people who keep us going.

Hi, I’m Jack Rumsey. I grew up in Chicago and have lived in Denver for the last 6 years. I live with my partner Allie and my very new and incredibly handsome pup Lenny.

2. How long have you been with Swimlane?

I’ve been with Swimlane for just under a year. I started last August.

3. What does your job entail?

I oversee Swimlane’s governance risk and compliance (GRC) program. I manage our external compliance engagements such as ISO27001 and SOC 2 and also lead the internal audit function. I continuously work towards defining our risk posture and help to identify emerging gaps in our compliance and security controls. Overall, my job is to foster trust in Swimlane by our customers and bring due credit to the folks who help develop and secure the product every day.

4. What do you enjoy most about working at Swimlane?

I enjoy the purpose and autonomy of my position, the dedication and mutual respect of our team, and being around people who bring their authentic selves to work.

5. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I love playing and recording music and I love playing tennis. My girlfriend and I are also avid snowboarders and travelers. We just took a trip to Alaska which was pretty epic.

6 What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I can still quote every line in the movie Superbad.

7. Your motto or personal mantra:

Do the right things, for the right reasons

8. Three words that best describe you:

Creative, persuasive, and probably… ridiculous

9. What Swimlane core value resonates with you the most?

Punch Above Your Weight Class, for sure. I’m thankful to get opportunities at Swimlane to do this and it feels good when you do. I’m a believer of the importance of lifelong learning and getting better at what you do no matter what that is.

10. What type of impact do you want to leave on our industry?

I would like to bring more creativity to the GRC space through projects or being a trusted advisor. I think there is untapped value in GRC because doing business with trustworthy and transparent organizations is crucial now more than ever. Owning the public trust perception and even gamifying how this is done makes sense to me.

I want to inspire anyone I can to be passionate about their work in this industry, and lastly, be involved with product organizations who truly understand the cybersecurity challenges of customers and can execute their vision.
